Harvest experience in Rocim and Alentejo traditions
20/09/2022Earlier than usual, Herdade do ROCIM got off to a strong start with the harvest and with it the opening of the Herdade to all those interested in accompanying the entire grape harvest process until arrival at the winery, treading on foot or storage in the amphorae. There are two programs available: ‘Uma bucha na vindima do Rocim’, daily, available until 4 September, at 35 euros per person, and ‘Cante da Vindima’, which takes place only on 17 September, at 80 euros per person. «The harvest takes place when the berries are at the point of maturation to be harvested and gain new life, from the vineyard the grapes are delivered to the cellar, so that the winemaker can now work with the musts and result in the best possible wine. It is a time of anxiety and a lot of emotion. These are the moments that we want to share with our visitors a vintage experience, creating a daily program and a celebratory program for that», says Pedro Ribeiro, winemaker and manager of Herdade do ROCIM.
A bush in the Rocim vintage | available until the 4th of September – visitors will get to know the harvest process, which ends with a varied Alentejo loofah composed of local products: selection of cheeses and sausages, tomato and basil salad, fresh cheese in oregano, local pies, natural orange juice , Alentejo melon, scrambled eggs with asparagus and pairing with Olho de Mocho wines). Available for a maximum of 12 people with the offer of a t-shirt and cloth bag Herdade do Rocim. Value €35.00 per person.
The song of the vintage | one day – September 17th – the harvest is celebrated with the Alentejo cante. Start with a visit to the vineyard to learn about the harvesting process, followed by a visit to the cellar and lunch consisting of a typical Alentejo menu paired with wines from the ROCIM estate. In the end, visitors make their own batch of wine with some vintages from previous years, living a day in the “skin” of the winemaker. The program includes the offer of a t-shirt, hat and a cloth bag Herdade do Rocim. Value €80.00 per person.

Casa Relvas invites wine tourists to harvest
20/09/2022Casa Relvas invites wine lovers to another edition of its Harvest Program, which will take place at Herdade de São Miguel, in Redondo, Alentejo, from August 20 to September 20.
With the aim of making the public aware of the traditions inherent to the art of harvesting, the company led by Alexandre Relvas once again organizes this initiative, which is part of the wine tourism activity of the Alentejo wine producer. Participants will be able to experience the work carried out by the Casa Relvas team in the vineyard and winery during this time of year.
The program, designed especially for wine lovers, but also attractive for the curious, lasts approximately five hours and includes a walk through the vineyard, identification of grape varieties and sensory analysis of seeds, berries and stalks, and manual harvesting. In addition to these activities, the visit also includes walking – one of the funnest moments of the day – and a must tasting at the Herdade de São Miguel cellar. At the end, visitors can choose to complete the program with a wine tasting and lunch, during which they can taste some typical dishes of the region.
This initiative linked to wine – and the vineyard – signed by Casa Relvas also includes the offer of a ‘harvest kit’, which includes a t-shirt and a hat, so that everyone can ‘wear the sweater’ and, on the one hand, day, to be part of the team, and of the family that is Casa Relvas.

Harvest at Quinta São João Batista (Enoport Wines)
20/09/2022Similar to what has been proposed in previous years, Enoport Wines suggests the experience of ‘Um dia na vindima’. The program is on Saturday, September 3, at 10:00 am, at Quinta de São João Batista, the property that this producer has in the region of Vinhos do Tejo, with address in Brogueira, municipality of Torres Novas. On this day, all participants will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty!
The program begins with a brief explanation of what will happen and continues with a visit to one of the vineyards, where they are challenged to carry out the manual harvest, which consists of picking grapes by hand (in contrast to machine harvesting, which is increasingly essential due to to the lack of manpower and the need to keep the grapes healthy in the cellar). From the vineyard they go to the cellar, where they can crush the grapes on foot, and then the barrel cellar, one of the most magnificent in the region. The program ends with a picnic lunch in the garden of this emblematic and secular Quinta. In addition to wines with the Quinta S. João Batista seal, there will be space for other brands – always with the Tagus Wines seal – and for the tasting of grape must.

Harvest Program in Torre de Palma
20/09/2022Respecting its Roman roots, Torre de Palma marks the beginning of the harvest in mid-August, as well as the beginning of the harvest program. It ends in mid-October, celebrating the date on which the must is consecrated. During the weeks in which the harvest takes place, participants will spend a day in the vineyard, participate in the harvest, and in the cellar they will be able to learn more about the vineyards and varieties, choose the best grapes and taste the wines.

Harvest at Casa Romana Vini
20/09/2022Founded in 1738, in the first half of the 18th century, Quinta do Porto Nogueira was always owned by the same family until the 20th century, when it was acquired by the current owners. For centuries, the main culture of Quinta do Porto Nogueira was the vineyard, now restored and planted in its original terroirs, around the Houses and Winery.
The new wine tourism activities include the vintage experience at Quinta do Porto Nogueira, in the Tagus region. They will be able to experience work in the Vineyard, as well as watch the entire Grape Selection Process at the entrance to the Winery. An unforgettable harvest at Quinta da Gricha

For those who yearn for moments of escape in the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, feeling part of that unique ecosystem, a vintage experience in the Douro is a must. During two weekends in September, Churchill’s welcomes its guests to the annual harvest at its emblematic Quinta da Gricha. The occasion includes a day of harvesting, treading the grapes and tasting its award-winning Port and Douro wines, contemplating a breathtaking view.
From ‘terroir’ wine tastings and rustic lunches with friends overlooking the Douro Valley, to the time to ‘get your hands dirty’ during the harvest, Churchill’s has prepared experiences for all tastes – even for the most fearless travelers. .
During this day it is possible to have a real lesson about the Douro Valley and the unique viticulture of the region. Upon arriving at the farm, guests change into their ‘Douro Kit’ and are ready to join in picking grapes with Churchill’s viticulture team. After a mid-morning snack, followed by a tasting of Churchill’s iconic Port wines and a tasting of Churchill’s Quinta da Gricha Vintage Port, produced only with Quinta da Gricha grapes, while enjoying the panoramic view on the vineyard terraces.
Afterwards, the guests join the team that will tread the grapes in the old granite presses, which date back to 1852. Churchill’s is one of the few Port wine houses that still treads all its grapes on foot, because it believes this is the best way to produce high quality Port wines. Quinta de Santa Cristina invites you to a sunset overlooking the vineyards
19/09/2022Quinta de Santa Cristina, located in Celorico de Basto, presents the Sun-Wine-Set 2.0, an event that will provide moments of leisure and sharing, and which will take place on the 20th of August, starting at 6 pm and ending at midnight.
This event will start with a welcome drink (Sparkling Reserva Rosé 2016). During the late afternoon and early evening, wine tourists can enjoy a steak, which will be included in the ticket. However, if you still want to enjoy other snacks, you can purchase extra bifanas or boards, which will be available on the menu. To accompany these snacks, participants will also be entitled to a glass of wine, which will also be included in the ticket. If participants want to enjoy more of the Quinta’s wines, they will have the possibility to purchase more bottles.
As a way to provide a fun and pleasant environment, this event will also feature a Dj-set, in the care of the duo ‘Maryzka & Patolas’, who will ensure animation throughout the event.

Ravasqueira launches summer wine
19/09/2022It’s called Ravasqueira Sauvignon Blance is a white wine made only with selected grapes, which combines the oenology of the new world with the elegance of traditional wines from the old world, showing concentration, balance and freshness. An ideal wine for this season, and perfect to accompany light dishes or to be enjoyed as an aperitif.
According to winemakers David Baverstock and Jorge Rosa Santos, the wine shows «notes of tropical fruit, cut grass, asparagus and lime and an intense nose showing all the expressiveness of the variety». With a recommended RRP of 6.20 Euros, it’s a safe bet for the table on these hot summer days. The expressiveness presented by the wine perfectly matches the snacks and light dishes typical of the season, such as salads, seafood and various snacks.

The ‘Vertical de Pôpa VV’ is a super exclusive pack in a very limited edition, composed of all the existing vintages since the creation of this wine from a selected plot, since its creation – precisely 15 years ago, from the 2007 harvest. for €275, wine connoisseurs have access to eight bottles, one each year – ‘Pôpa VV Vinhas Velhas red’ from 2007, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, the latter being the vintage that is currently in market – and also a voucher that includes a visit to Quinta do Pôpa, especially the Old Vineyards, and a wine tasting for two people.
‘Vinhas Velhas In All’ is a more comprehensive and accessible offer, as it is composed of wines with different profiles, two reds, a sweet red – the only one from the Douro – and a Vintage Port wine, being from the crops that are now on the market. In total, Quinta do Pôpa has 4 hectares of Old Vineyards, 1.32 of which are from 1932. In a meticulous study of the varieties, there are already 21 identified varieties. Vinhas Velhas are, by definition, a field blend, in this case with 21 identified varieties. This was a technique used in other times as a way of survival, insofar as if a variety was affected by diseases, pests or bad weather, there were others with resistance and good production. At the end of 2019, the Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto (IVDP), which oversees the region’s production, defined rules for the designation Vinhas Velhas, which must be over 40 years old. The Old Vineyards of Quinta do Pôpa are more than twice this minimum age, being almost centenary, guaranteeing diversity, authenticity and a lot of wisdom.
